Czech and Double Czech

The Czech Heads came in as tourney favorites after capturing the title last year and left leaving no doubt as to the top team in the 2009 Dubai Mighty Camel International Ice Hockey Tourney. The two-time champs defeated a very tired and weary ABu Dhabi Scorpions in the A Division Final after the team from "down the road" fought and won a double overtime shoot out to get to the Finals. In the othe divisions, the host Dubai Mighty Camels A Team diminated the B Division after making an untimely exit outof the top bracket. Qatar was the unfortunate opponents in the B final while Yellowstone continued their dominance of the C Division against upset motivated Emal from Abu Dhabi. The Canadians are still at the top of the league ending the dream season of the Al Mal Flacons with a hard fought 2-1 decision. Pascal Larouche playing in his first game of the best of three finals paid immediate dividends as he had the game winner with just over 6 minutes left in the contest. It was a close battle with both teams feeling each other out instead of the high flying, free wheeling and up and down style that the capacity crowd had anticipated. Mistakes were few anf far between until Ron Murphy took advantage of an odd man break and scored with an accurate shot to complete the scoring in the first period. The Falcons finally got on the score board and tied it in the second with a goal mouth scramble. It was Bruce Pope who found the back of the net but it only set the sceen for Larouche to claim his game winner and send the champs home with the trophy once again. the Falcons pulled their goalie and came close but could not fire the biscuit past goalie MJP for the equalizer. Coach, captain and GM Ron Murphy thanked Al Mal for a great season after the game and walked out of the challengers room with a traditional "WooHoo!" Team owner and champagne magnant Dave Barette was a surprise attendee at post game ceremonies bit made sure to spread the cheer. After the initial shock of not carrying the trophy off the ice, Guy Teulon, Falcons coach and all around good Guy, took a momnet to congrate his team on a great season and reflect on how important it was to have a great bunch of guys in the dressing who could have fun and still beat Dave Boston and the Bekeart Bruins.
